The first designed heavy-duty engine for Northern America was announced on October 19th 2007 as the DD15. Developed by Daimler Corporation and assembled by Detroit Diesel in Michigan at their manufacturer assembled facility. Amazing fuel economy, provides exceptional long service intervals, and projection at 1.2 million B50 miles is what this engine has to offer. Customers demanded the best and now the can have the best! The only EPA 2010 commission standard stick binned engine, with a 5% fuel efficiency greater than the Series 60, more intensive horse power, and more torque, which everyone who knows engines knows what that means  MORE POWER!

Customers have spoken very highly of this new standard heavy-duty engine. It has been said engines ride smoother, shifts smoother, and sounds quieter than ever. When you thought it couldn't get better, it just did. The DD15 comes with turbo compounding turns down-string exhaust which turns into a huge gain in power. Daimler made this engine so it  works best when turbo compound is pushed to the ultimate limit. The power performance and the wide torque curve on this engine are astounding. It's known as the widest torque curve in the industry.
